That Night

Paxton has been sleeping through the night since he was around 2 months old! Just about every night since that first night he slept through the night, I’ve been going to bed thinking, “is tonight the night that he wakes up.”

We’ve been blessed with a good sleeper but last night was that night! I woke up around 2 a.m. to a screaming baby. The reason is teething. I noticed last night before putting him to bed that his gums were swollen.

I went to the nursery and tried to soothe him without picking him up but that wasn’t working. I checked his diaper and then remembered his swollen gums. I gave him some pain reliever and then we rocked for about 15 minutes until he was sleeping. Putting him down was not successful so I brought him to bed with me. I started off with him lying on top of me then he wiggled off and we repeated this several times throughout the next hour. I couldn’t sleep and he was fussy. Finally I decided to try putting him in his crib and once I turned the mobile on he rolled over on his side and was out.

I was tired and slept in this morning but my energy level has been low today! I cannot imagine having a baby that is up all throughout the night for months (although I’m sure I will experience this more while he is teething and with future babies!)

Here are some shots from the past few days:

Paxton fell asleep propped up on the couch last Friday night!

He was feeling bad and had been sitting up between us and the next thing we knew he was out!

Sunday our little man started crawling! He finally figured out how to go forward! The most exciting part was that John David had just gotten home from church so we both witnessed his first time crawling!

Now he is really into everything…he especially loves his diaper bag!

Our mischievous little moving man!

*I have lots of pictures to share from this weekend and I hope to post more soon!

So cute. I wish Carsyn would sleep through the night again. It is rough. He is up every 2-4 hours. I need my sleep! Hopefully he sleeps better for you tonight. Once they break through it will be a little better.

My daughter actually slept through the night for the first time in MONTHS on Monday! It is funny, but i was more tired at work the next day than I usually am. Teething does funny things to all children so be prepared for almost anything!
