Life with a toddler is certainly never, ever dull! Here’s what’s been going on in the Boreing household so far today:
At 6:30 I was woken by a crying little man! I quickly made my way to the bathroom (a curse of pregnancy!), put some milk in a bottle (he’s taking cow’s milk…just out of a bottle still, we’re working on transitioning to milk in sippy’s) and went and grabbed him! At the first sight of me the crying stopped! After checking to make sure he wasn’t too wet, we go climb back in our bed, he drinks an ounce or two of milk and rolls over, puts his hand on my face and falls back to sleep (so sweet!)
Around 8:30 I wake again and John David is ready to leave for work and Paxton is up and active! Since he’s leaving I must get up or our toddler will tear the house down! After a quick trip to the bathroom, I walk in the kitchen to discover this:
Yes, he’s learned to climb! This is the second time he’s climbed on the table!
Just hanging out on top of the table!
After snapping these pictures, I get him off the table and we eat breakfast. We hang out in the living room eating our cereal, playing on the iPad and reading Little Farm in the Ozarks {I decided last night that I wanted to start reading a chapter book to Paxton}. He listened to the first half of the chapter pretty well and then got down to play while I continued reading.
When we’re in his room for a diaper change, he notices his tennis shoes so I give them to him and he insists on socks. He tries to put on the shoes and socks and finally brings them to me so I can put them on! Once the shoes are on, he starts pointing to the door and saying ‘bye’! I go change out of my pjs, put on some shoes and we head outside. We put some letters in the mailbox and then decide to pick up sticks. We spent about 45 minutes picking up sticks (he picked up a pine cone or two!) While I was picking up sticks he was exploring!
By the time we’re finished with the sticks, it’s nearly 11 and we’re both sweaty! We head inside and take a bath together…the first bath we’ve taken together in months! After bath, Paxton’s asking for another snack. We both had a little snack and then I put him down for his morning nap which should have been around 10:30, it’s now nearly 12!
Thankfully he goes down easily and I climb in bed and read some blogs and look at baby names and just rest! It’s 1:00 before he wakes up and it’s time for lunch! We eat lunch and while he’s finishing up, I wash dishes! Then I gather a load of laundry to start and pull some milk and meat for dinner out of the freezer to thaw out.
After this, he heads to his room where I catch him on his computer!

Sweet little man! {And I am completely envious of his chair!}

I decide this is a perfect time to stuff diapers which dried overnight on the drying rack. After stuffing diapers, we head in the office so I can upload photos and blog. Paxton has kept himself busy pulling books off the bookshelf, playing with clothespins, bringing me my flip flops and trying them on and giving me the occasional hug!
It’s now 3 and we’ve already had a busy day but I’m sure there’s much more excitement to come in the next few hours!!
We had a huge storm with straight line winds blow through here about 4:45 on Saturday afternoon. It was downright scary for about 30 seconds with the wind and I spent about 15 minutes post storm lying on our bed trying to get my heart rate down! It’s moments like these that I wish we had a basement!!
We lost power but thankfully it came back after only 12 hours. Two days later there are still people without power in our area, we are so thankful!
We did have damage, we had trees and limbs fall down and there are sticks everywhere but our house had no major damage except for losing a single piece of siding and a ridge vent.
This is the tree that was over our pool. It was a large tree with multiple large limbs that fell everywhere.
We had tree limbs in our pool and all over the back of the deck. Thankfully our pool was not damaged!
One of the large limbs knocked out a whole section of deck and busted our pool pole.
That’s me standing on our porch post storm looking around in disbelief at all the limbs, sticks and pine cones in the yard.
We lost a large tree top to a pine tree in our front yard.
Since these pictures were taken just 2 days ago, John David has been hard at work! Yesterday he sawed the limbs out of the pool so we could begin cleaning the pool and today he borrowed a chain saw and has been sawing in the backyard for the last little bit.
My plan is to wake up early (before it gets too hot!) and pick up the sticks in the yard…I figure that is the least I can do since I can’t ‘man’ a chain saw!!
We’ve entered a messy stage and oh.my.goodness. The messes this child can create is amazing! He is literally into everything and anything he can get his hands!
Sunday evening while I was vacuuming the pool, I had Paxton corralled on the back deck. It was working wonderfully, he was playing with his ball, I could see him, he could see me so he wasn’t fussy, and he was having fun climbing onto and off of his picnic table.
Well, about 5 minutes before I was finished, I looked over and couldn’t see him. I called his name and he walks out from behind the grill. He’s been playing in soot! Lovely! He had it all over his hands, belly and a little around his mouth!
Messy hands. It was not easy to clean off either!

One very active little boy! {After the soot incident I was so thankful I put him just in shorts, he would have ruined whatever shirt he was wearing!}

He may be a handful but he’s still adorable!
And apparently he tried to get in the house. I have greasy, sooty little finger marks all over the back door!
And here’s more evidence of Mr. Messy:
The only thing he did not do in here was strip the bed {I did that since the sheets needed washing!}. He got my pants out of the closet, brought toys and a pot holder in here and flipped the clothes basket!
His room! He got into the diapers and the dirty clothes!

And the living room with a various assortment of toys, a diaper and my purse. And the pillows, they never, ever stay on the couch. He is always dragging them off!
I’m really thinking we need to baby proof a little more, remember to close my closet door and declutter a little more so there is not so much stuff to be drug all over the house!

Here is our family last Monday as we were making preparations for John David to leave for Ethiopia! We took this picture so he could bring a current picture of his family with him! It turned out pretty good (anytime Paxton is looking at the camera in a family shot is good!)
Paxton has mastered the art of climbing into the rocking chair! It’s quite cute watching him get up there and then he rocks himself!

Such a big boy!!
Getting fussy…this child is not too cooperative when it comes to taking pictures!

Being silly…love that tongue!!
He’s done…ready to get down!

Last Friday I gave him his straw sippy cup for the first time and he loved it! He’s mastered the art of drinking out of a straw and it is so cute! I just adore this picture of him!!

He was clutching the cup…
So adorable!
These pictures are too stinkin’ cute not to share of Paxton in his fluff and cowboy boots!
So, so serious!
Look at the tip toe action! I love watching his little feet as he reaches for things! {He loves carrying around burp cloths…they make great toys apparently!}
Going from his standing position to a much safer crawling position since he is Mr. Cautious these days!
