The Past 2 Days in Pictures

Tuesday morning he was on his side when I went to greet him in the morning!

I love how relaxed he was! He is always so happy in the mornings (that is until I touch him and he suddenly remembers he is absolutely starving!)

Last night John David held him and he fell asleep in his arms! Precious! I do believe holding your sleeping child is one of the most wonderful things!

So sweet! Lately I’ve been sad about how fast he is growing (which he is!) but he is still so little, he looks really small in his daddy’s arms!

He wasn’t quite asleep, just completely comfy snuggling with Daddy!

Today we reached a big milestone…he mastered the roll! And you know what, it wasn’t captured on film nor was it even witnessed by his parents! I was working when he rolled over!!! Still it was quite exciting, I immediately called John David to celebrate when I discovered our babe on his tummy! (We have seen him roll on our bed and with a little help but he has not yet rolled on the ground…my life is slowly changing as he becomes increasingly mobile!)

After church tonight! We coordinated in green!

He’s kissing mama! (Not really but it looks that way!)

I love this sweet little boy!

So now Paxton is sleeping and I’m tired! Ready to go climb into bed, glad the sheets are clean, a little sad they’re damp (there aren’t but so many hours in a day and laundry comes second at times…)

Four Months

Paxton is now 4 months old! We’ve had our precious bundle of joy for 1/3 of a year! Wow!

This month’s milestones:

  • Talking, talking and more talking!
  • He’s starting to play! He really loves his bunny rattle, stuffed puppy rattle and his US Navy teddy bear (from his Great Uncle Ray who is in the Navy!)
  • Laughing! Oh my goodness, talk about melting a mama’s heart! I could listen to him laughing all day long!

  • Still wearing his Bum Genius diapers on the smallest setting!
  • When he wears disposables, he’s in a size 2!
  • He’s 26 inches long and weighs 16 pounds 3 ounces! (He’s only grown 1 inch since his 2 month check-up!)
  • Still wearing mostly 6-9 month onesies and rompers (since he’s only grown an inch in two months!) but is also wearing some 12 month onesies which have plenty of room to grow! As far as pants go, he’s still in 3-6!

  • He’s drooling…a lot! He goes through bibs and onesies like crazy because they’re all wet!
  • He’s still sleeping all night long! He typically goes to bed around 9:00 and sleeps until 7:30 or 8:00! Yesterday, which was daddy’s day off, he slept until 9:00!! We’re thinking he likes to sleep like his mommy & daddy!
  • He traveled a lot as a 3-month-old! He went to visit his Nana and Papaw Cobble and then went to Virginia to meet his Great Grandmother and Grandpa Clark and all of the Clark family and also went to Jonesborough! He’s a wonderful little traveler!

  • He loves daddy! Especially when daddy flies him in the air (of course he almost always drools on daddy!)
  • He loves his play mat! He now plays with all of the toys on it and even is moving around on it!
  • Enjoys sitting in his Bumbo!
  • Still enjoys bath time but hates having his neck washed!

  • He loves his mama! Mainly because I’m the one who feeds him! I’m still breastfeeding him exclusively and he’s doing just wonderful!
  • We’re enjoying our Peanut Shell sling, it’s perfect for the grocery store! I can have my sweet babe close to me and have plenty of room in the cart! Today he slept the entire time I was grocery shopping!
  • We love taking a walk out to the mail box with him in the Moby Wrap almost every day!

  • He does not like to be cradled unless he is nursing or very, very sleepy!
  • He looks at John David and me when we’re walking around!
  • We’re enjoying meals as a family now! We sit Paxton in his high chair while we eat dinner and he does so good!
  • He still loves his swing but he’s really outgrowing it!

  • His feet are absolutely precious to me! They are growing, he outgrew his adorable baby tennis shoes but is growing into some of his others (although he rarely wears shoes because he doesn’t really like them and it is so hot!)
  • He loves being read to! He listens and reaches for the pictures!
  • He is so serious when he is in new surroundings or interacting with people he isn’t around much.
  • He’s not reaching for anybody just yet.
  • No signs of separation anxiety…we’ve made conscious efforts to pass him around at church so he (hopefully) doesn’t become too clingy (especially since I stay home with him!)

  • We think he is so handsome/beautiful/precious!
  • God has blessed us with the sweet baby boy! “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.” -Psalms 127:3 NIV (And are hoping that we’ll be “rewarded” with several more children!)
  • It’s amazing how fast time is flying with this little guy! I often find myself getting sad that he’s growing up but I try to tell myself daily that he’s supposed to grow up and that he’ll never be as little as he is today so cherish him just like he is!

Three Months

Yesterday Paxton was 3 months old! He’s changed so much over this last month!

This month’s milestones:

  • He’s holding his head up!
  • The past 3 days he’s been enjoying his tummy time! This past Wednesday he held his head up more than 5 minutes continuously!
  • Wearing 6-9 month onesies & rompers (can squeeze into some 3-6 still) and mostly wearing 0-3 bottoms still!
  • Wore his last size 1 diaper this past Thursday!
  • Still wearing Bum Genius diapers on the smallest setting.
  • Exclusively cloth diapering and loving it! He only wears disposables on Sunday to church and sometimes when we travel overnight.
  • Sleeping all night long! I feed around 10 and have him down around 10:30-10:45 now. He sleeps until 7:00-8:00 most mornings! (Some mornings I have to wake him up, especially if we are going somewhere…I think it is just wonderful that I have to wake up my 3 month old!)
  • He smiles at us all the time! He’s laughing more and more!!
  • He talks and talks and talks! He carries on conversations with us and even with himself!
  • He’s traveled to West Tennessee twice this month!

  • His baby dedication was July 4! He was just perfect for the dedication and all of his grandparents were there!
  • He’s been playing on his playmat and interacting with his toys!
  • He’s a thumb sucker! We finally gave in to it after he was sucking it through his scratch mittens! He only sucks on it when he is sleepy though.
  • We weighed and measured him yesterday and he was 14 pounds and 26 inches long! (13 pounds 4 ounces and 25 inches long at his 2 month check-up…his growth is slowing a little.)
  • He went swimming for the first time at Nannie and Grandaddy’s! He loved it!
  • He just loves his bath time! He never cries but he sure does fight when I wash under his neck! I took a bath with him this past week and he splashed his feet in the water!
  • He sits in our laps and listens when we read to him! I try to read him a few little stories everyday and we started reading Little House in the Big Woods this past week!
  • He enjoys the Moby Wrap and we bought a new sling this week and he’s doing good with a hip carry in that!
  • Has a beautiful complexion! That is one of the things I hear the most from people!
  • He is a wonderful easy baby! We’ve been so blessed!

Our Big Play Day

Paxton and I had a wonderful playtime yesterday afternoon! He held his head up continuously more than 5 minutes! Up until yesterday afternoon, whenever we’d put him on his belly after about 30 seconds he’d be crying in protest! He really seemed to enjoy it and was checking out all of his toys!

Checking out his bunny and the carrot with his bunny rattle in hand!!

He was just studying the carrot! I loved watching him really explore all of the different colors and textures on his playmat!

Look at him! He looks so big, it almost looks like he is going to get up and start crawling!

Of course after holding his head up continuously and then having some more playtime on his back he was just wore out! His play mat makes a nice little napping spot too!

If you missed it, I shared a video of him “talking” yesterday!
