Five Years

We celebrated our 5th anniversary on Friday, May 27th! Unfortunately, our anniversary fell on one of the busiest work weeks this year for John David! He finally arrived home around 11:00! He did bring Sonic cheese sticks and a chocolate milkshake so we had a mini anniversary date on our couch!

I wasn’t too disappointed on our anniversary since we had a 5th anniversary trip planned! We’ve been talking about and planning this trip since before Paxton was born! We left Paxton with John David’s parents and spent 2 nights without him at the same resort we honeymooned at! {Paxton did just fine and so did I!}

We ate barbeque at the same place we did 5 years before, enjoyed pizza at a local cafe we visited on our honeymoon and went to several quaint stores!

Honestly, the most enjoyable part was sleeping late and not having to be responsible for a very active little fellow who is into everything!

{And don’t you love our matching t-shirts…after 5 years I suppose couples who are still in love start dressing alike! 🙂 We wore these to church on Sunday, they are production team shirts for church that John David designed!}

And here’s a trip down memory lane:

Like Father, Like Son

The little apple didn’t fall too far from the tree! Paxton loves gadgets and technology just as much as his daddy does! It’s both cute and annoying…I don’t like picking up cell phones or my iPod with baby drool all over it but it’s slightly heartwarming that he enjoys it!

I snapped my two men sharing a techy man moment last week when John David was off! {Unmade beds are okay on off days until noon…okay? At least the baby was out of his pajamas!}

How adorable is this? Love these two!

4th Anniversary

Yesterday we celebrated 4 years of marriage! It’s been a wonderful 4 years full of ups and some downs, full of love, friendship, spending time together and now as a family of 3!

We didn’t make big plans for our anniversary (which is typical John David and Rachel style!) We were originally hoping that one of our sets of parents would come and visit and keep Paxton! They didn’t come, so Paxton stayed with his “local” grandparents, the Claros!!

We left their home around 7:00 and went to a nearby town and had Jersey Mike’s for dinner! I know, it’s not romantic but I’ve been craving Jersey Mike’s for months and didn’t eat it since I was pregnant! I had planned to have a big Jersey Mike sandwich after having Paxton but I didn’t! So, we satisfied my craving last night and it was just wonderful!

After dinner, we went to Lowe’s to pick up stuff for John David to make a cloth diaper sprayer!

When we came out of Lowe’s, we were amazed at how beautiful the moon was! If only we had a long lense, this photo would be much better!

Then we went to Kohl’s so I could exchange 2 sleepers for bigger sizes for our growing boy!

Then we went to McDonald’s for dessert! (When we were dating and first married we loved going to McDonald’s for Sweet Tea and ice cream cones!) I had a wonderful chocolate dipped cone and John David had a sundae.

And here’s a trip down memory lane:

Valentine’s Day

We’re don’t typically celebrate Valentine’s Day in any big way! I’m not the flowers, diamonds, and chocolates kind of girl, I know my husband loves me and he doesn’t have to buy me gifts on certain days of the year to prove it!

We do however celebrate in a simple way and have done different things since we’ve been together!

Our first Valentine’s, when we were dating, I went and visited John David and his family in East Tennessee for the weekend! It snowed that weekend and the Saturday night before Valentine’s we went sledding in the pasture at 10:30 at night…wonderful memories! And we had a Valentine’s breakfast at Cracker Barrel before I went back to school! (Cracker Barrel was our first date, so that’s special!)

Our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, we bought an iPod (as an us gift) and I made John David coupons for silly things (that he’s yet to redeem…for some reason when I give homemade coupons as gifts the recipient wants to keep them & not redeem them!)

Last year we set a $5 budget and were quite creative! I bought him a black shirt (on clearance…of course) and he gave me a 12-pack of Sun Drop that he arranged in the shape of a heart! (I love citrusy soft drinks!)

This year we decided on no gifts! However, John David’s mom gave us $20 to go out to eat on and we enjoyed having that money! We had Mexican for lunch yesterday, spending a grand total of $15.50. With the remaining money we went to Sonic yesterday afternoon and John David got an Iced Mocha Latte and I had a small Strawberry Shake, that was only $3.80! We were proud that we had 2 “dates” and $.70 left over!

Last night was pizza night and I made heart shaped Cheese Bread for my sweetie!

As well as a heart shaped pepperoni pizza! (Which was very yummy!)

This morning we went to church and came home to leftover pizza (I love Sunday afternoon leftovers!) Then, we had a wonderful lazy Sunday afternoon with ranch popcorn, chocolate milk, oreos, and TV! We didn’t do a single productive thing which is nice every once in a while!!

And here’s Paxton while we were waiting on the pizza to finish! Baby Paxton is our gift to each other this year! We just can’t wait to finally meet him in 2 months and 1 week!!

Our Second Anniversary

(This picture makes me laugh! We were in the camper here and we look very country in our hunting and tractor t-shirts…great memories!!)

May 27, 2008

Today we celebrated our 2nd Anniversary! It is hard to believe that we have been married for two years! Of course, like I told my mom when I was talking to her, it seems like we have always been married…it is hard to remember what life was like before we were married! I think it is awesome that our marriage just gets stronger and stronger with each day. Our love is stronger than it was two years ago! I am looking forward to the years to come, I can’t imagine how close we will be when we reach that 25th anniversary which John David’s parents just celebrated and my parents will celebrate in a few months or when we reach 50 years!!

Since John David started work today I stayed home and had supper ready for him! I made homemade rolls, baked pork chops, and ranch potatoes. I wanted to cook him supper tonight to welcome my hard working husband home from his first day of work! I greeted him with “Honey you’re home!” before he could say “Honey I am home!” (Of course we went to Maine for our anniversary so he is not a bad husband for not taking me out to dinner! I really wanted to cook!)

Anniversary smooch!

Sweet wedding kiss!
