Our Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend with family and friends celebrating the resurrection of Jesus!

John David’s parents arrived late Thursday night. On Friday we went to Cracker Barrel for brunch. (I had fried chicken biscuits, hashbrown casserole and fried apples, yummy!) After brunch we ran some errands, taking back and exchanging baby gifts at several stores. My quest Friday was to find a “coming home” outfit for Paxton which was unsuccessful! I have it in my head that he needs to wear a white/baby blue outfit with no animals on it! I was unable to find anything that met my criteria! We had Mexican for dinner and stopped by Wal-Mart where I picked up a 3-pack of Gerber side snap shirts (this becomes important soon!) as well as a few other baby things we needed, including 0-3 and 3-6 month jeans! I’m so excited about the baby jeans!

We woke up fairly early on Saturday morning and I decided that since I had yet to find the perfect baby outfit for Paxton that I would attempt to make him something to wear home! The Gerber side snap shirts are so precious and look like the perfect thing for a baby to wear home from the hospital so I just needed some pants to go with the tiny shirt! So I pulled out some blue gingham flannel I had and made some baby pants!

I used a pair of newborn pants I had as a pattern and made these! They aren’t perfect but I’m proud of them and I think they are precious and look perfect with the sweet side snap shirt! They are small so hopefully his legs won’t be too long (his daddy has very long legs so it’s a definite possibility!) So unless I happen to run across the perfect coming home outfit or unless someone gives me one, Paxton is wearing mommy made pants to come home in! (And they are soft flannel so he’ll be comfy!)

While I was working on Paxton’s pants the rest of the family was completing my spring cleaning! They tackled all of the projects I was unable to do! John David and David patched the wall above our dresser and hung up my towel rod in our master bath and Annette cleaned our living room and nursery ceiling fans! She also weeded our front flower bed (it was quite shameful) and David and John David mowed the yard! I am so thankful that my home has received a thorough cleaning before baby comes! Jill arrived Saturday afternoon too! We had homemade pizza for dinner and then went to bed relatively early since John David had to be at church early for Easter!

Easter Sunday John David and I woke up at 5:00 to get to church by 6:00! Since we have 3 Easter services he wanted to be there and be prepared for them! All of the services went well, John David and his media team did a great job! While John David was working hard, I attended the 8:00 service, sat in the sound booth during the 9:30 service and taught 3 year olds during the 11:00 service!

After church John David, Jill and I went to lunch at the Simmerman’s with several other staff families! We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and fellowship!

Once we arrived home Sunday evening we were all lazy and watched TV! (I was able to get an hour nap in which was glorious since the past few nights have been restless!)

After carrying my camera with me all day and saying over and over we need to take an Easter picture we finally did at 11:45! Here’s John David putting his shirt back on! (I’ll have to do a ┬ábetter job next year taking Easter pictures of Paxton!)

Here we are on our last Easter as just us!
