John David and I (Rachel) met in 2005 through the FFA. It was definitely not love at first sight, in fact, I thought he was quite arrogant! In June of 2005 while I was attending FFA Camp as a state FFA officer and John David was the camp intern, it just so happened that we both had some down time and ended up talking for about an hour. It turned out we had quite a bit in common and that he really wasn’t quite so bad!
On August 26, 2005 we began our courtship and by that December we knew we were meant for each other! We married on May 27, 2006, when we were both 19 (John David turned 20 just 4 days later!)
From our wedding to the end of August we lived upstairs in John David’s grandparents cabin and then moved to our married student housing apartment at Tennessee Tech in late August! (Our apartment was 572 square feet with cinder block walls but it was our home!)
After John David graduated in May 2008, we moved when he took a job with Farm Credit Services of Mid-America. (We also “moved up” in housing…1,200 square feet with real walls!!)
In December 2008, John David was offered a job as Media Director at our church and we also purchased a home and got a dog the day after we moved in, our Yorkie Poo, Mac!
In August 2009, we found out we were expecting a baby! We welcomed our son, Paxton Graham, on April 16, 2010!
We still have many pages to write in our story and this blog is a document of our story!
